Ivanka Trump tweets her New Year's resolution is to sleep more

First daughter Ivanka Trump on Wednesday tweeted that her resolution for the new year is to “sleep more” and shared a link to an article about the very serious dangers of sleep deprivation.

Written by brain scientist Jeff Stibel, the piece in USA Today stresses that sleep is essential to brain health and overall functioning.

According to Stibel, failing to get in a full seven hours of rest can come with consequences including, “…chronic fatigue, confusion, poor decision-making, irritability, headaches, weight gain, depression and heart disease. Sleep deprivation has also been linked to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other long-term degenerative brain diseases.”

Studies have shown that sleep deprivation doesn’t do people any favors in the short term, either. After the 16th hour of wakefulness, mental and physiological deterioration starts to set it, reports Business Insider.

It’s unclear how many hours of sleep per night Ivanka has been getting, but she has been rather busy.

In addition to raising a family, she’s had quite a packed schedule, including numerous public appearances and trips to Japan and India.
