Study: More pregnant women are using marijuana
Pot smoking mamas?
There’s a bun in the oven and some moms to be are baking.
More pregnant women are using pot to ease nausea of morning sickness or heightened anxiety.
This according to a research letter published in the journal JAMA today.
CNN reports that among pregnant teens, marijuana use climbed from 12.5% to 21.8% and among women 18 to 24, use climbed from 9.8% to 19% from 2009 to 2016.
The research covered certain women in California.
There was also a countrywide study.
That study asked women if they used pot within the last thirty days. That number grew from 2.37% in 2012 to 3.85% in 2014.
But doctors warn, marijuana use could be bad for a baby.
The health effects remain unclear, but according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, effects could include low birth weight and developmental problems.
