A Boy Scouts leader was arrested after he was caught with child porn on his personal computer, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced Tuesday.

The agency announced that Michael Douglas Hanen of Umatilla, Florida, was arrested after local authorities got a tip that photos depicting child pornography were associated with the 67-year-old man.

Hanen was charged with 38 counts of child pornography after detectives discovered images of boys and girls ranging from age 2 to 11 engaging in sexual acts or posing for a picture on a digital device owned by him, according to an arrest report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

"Right now, we want to solicit from the public, the parents that may recognize this individual and know children that may have interacted with him," FDLE Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks said. "We want their communication."

The arrest report read that Hanen had “several images of him in his Boy Scout uniform with children present” on his desktop and had allegedly been “actively involved” with the Boy Scouts organization throughout the past few decades.

Officials with the Scouting organization called the allegations against Hanen "abhorrent."

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our youth members," an executive of the Boy Scouts’ Central Florida Council, Eric Magendantz, told WESH in a statement.

"We seek to prevent child abuse through comprehensive policies and procedures to serve as barriers to abuse. These include a thorough screening process for adult leaders and staff, criminal background checks, requiring two or more adult leaders be present with youth at all times during Scouting activities, and the prompt mandatory reporting of any allegation or suspicion of abuse."
