New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown on Sunday got emotional while discussing the broken hand that he sustained vs. the Denver Broncos in Week 14.

McCown left the game early with a hand injury. Though it was diagnosed as broken, he reportedly sought a second opinion on Monday that confirmed he'll need surgery. He'll miss the rest of the season.

While talking to reporters, the 38-year-old McCown broke down, saying he was upset about not getting to the finish the season with the team, though that ruling hadn't been made yet.

"It's been the best because of the guys," a choked-up McCown said. "Not numbers. It's been the best because of the group of guys in the locker room.

"I'm just proud to be part of it. So thankful they let me be part of this team."

McCown played a part in a surprisingly competitive Jets season that many expected to be marred by blatant tanking. Playing on the seventh team in his 13-year career, McCown posted a career-high in completion percentage and the second-best passer rating of his career.

In McCown's absence, the Jets will turn to Bryce Petty and second-year quarterback Christian Hackenberg.
