Snowboarder dies in crash at Tahoe resort

A man lost his life after crashing into a fence at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort in Twin Bridges, California on Thursday.

Officials say 23-year-old David Karlin was on an intermediate trail at about 1:15 p.m. when he lost control on the hill.

FOX40 reports Karlin was traveling at high speed and not wearing a helmet when he reportedly crashed into the fence.

According to the Sacramento Bee, ski officials requested ground and air transportation for Karlin. The site also notes early season conditions did not prompt the incident.

His family and friends set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs with the message, "David was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back, whenever you needed him he was there. He was a role model for many of us, a leader and a warrior."
