Army unveils new uniforms for annual Army-Navy football game

The annual Army-Navy football game is a tradition like no other, putting one of the most iconic and storied rivalries in college sports on full display each fall.

The game itself dates back to 1890 when Navy won the first meeting between the two rosters 24-0 at West Point. Since then, both teams have seen streaks of success, but Navy has largely dominated the rivalry as of late, winning every game from 2002 to 2015 and having won a total of 60 matchups to Army's 50. The teams have tied seven times.

In 2016, Army put an end to Navy's stretch of victories, winning its first game since 2001 by a score of 21-17. This weekend, Army players will don impressive new Nike uniforms as they take the field hoping to start a winning streak of their own.

Army partnered with Nike to create the new uniforms to honor the spirit, service and heritage of the branch's 10th Mountain Division. Bill Bowerman, one of Nike's co-founders, served time in the 10th Mountain Division, a light infantry comprised of soldiers learning to fight and survive in the most brutal of altitudes and wintry conditions.
