The New York Giants have fired head coach Ben McAdoo

The New York Giants are the first NFL team this year to move on from their head coach, firing Ben McAdoo this morning according to multiple reports.

McAdoo is the first head coach fired in-season by the franchise since Bill Arnsparger in 1976. He led the Giants to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth last season, but things fell apart in 2017, as the team has fallen to a 2-10 record and has drawn criticism for its handling of the benching of quarterback Eli Manning.

The Giants also fired general manager Jerry Reese, who has been with the organization for over 20 years and has been the GM since 2007.

The Giants have typically been a franchise that prides itself on consistency and staying the course, but the on-field results, off-field disciplinary issues and the recent Manning fiasco left Reese and McAdoo on thin ice.

This morning, that ice broke.

Despite the dumpster fire season from the Giants, expect plenty of interest for the vacant coaching and GM positions. The franchise has won two Super Bowls in the last 10 years and still carries a rich tradition, despite the recent hits it has taken.
