Zaun fired from Sportsnet over alleged ‘inappropriate behavior'

Former MLB catcher Gregg Zaun had his contract with Canadian broadcaster Sportsnet terminated on Thursday over “several” complaints about “inappropriate behavior” in the workplace from female colleagues.

Zaun's duties at Sportsnet included co-hosting pre-game coverage of Blue Jays games.

Rogers Media, which owns Sportsnet as well as the Blue Jays, wrote in a memo to staff that the complaints against Zaun were brought to light this week, according to News957.

“After investigating the matter, we decided to terminate his contract, effective immediately,” the memo reads. “We believe in a professional workplace where all employees feel comfortable and respected... We are grateful to the employees who spoke with us and will take every measure to protect their privacy.”

Zaun most notably spent five seasons with the Blue Jays during his 16-year MLB career.

After retiring in 2011, Zaun signed a two-year deal with Sportsnet and had been employed with the company since.

Sportsnet has already taken all videos featuring Zaun off of their YouTube channel.
