Colin Kaepernick wanted by casting director for role in project

Colin Kaepernick may not be unemployed much longer.

That's if one casting director in Hollywood gets their way.

The former NFL quarterback, who has not been on a roster for almost a year, is being sought by a casting director on a popular message board for agents and managers of actors, according to TMZ.

The director, whom TMZ did not name in the report, is currently working on a TV pilot as well as the "Uncle Drew" movie, which will feature Kyrie Irving as his Pepsi-commercial, basketball-loving, senior citizen character.

The latter, which is more of an obvious fit for an athlete like Kaepernick, is already starring figures from the sports world such as Shaq, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber and Lisa Leslie, according to IMDB.

In 2014, Kaepernick signed a six-year, $126 million extension with San Francisco after taking the Niners to the Super Bowl.

He opted out of the deal in March, after making headlines for being the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem, a gesture that has swept through the league ever since.

If Kaepernick does get the role he is being sought for, it would be his first role on the small or big screen.
