Trump slams Roy Moore's opponent Doug Jones, calls him 'a Schumer/Pelosi puppet'

In another indication of Donald Trump’s support for Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore in Alabama, the president went after the Democratic candidate Doug Jones in a series of tweets on Sunday.

“The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY,” Trump tweeted. “Jones would be a disaster!”

The president then said in another tweet, “I endorsed Luther Strange in the Alabama Primary. He shot way up in the polls but it wasn’t enough. Can’t let Schumer/Pelosi win this race. Liberal Jones would be BAD!”

Trump had echoed similar thoughts about Jones in his remarks to reporters on Tuesday. At the same time, he voiced his support for Moore, who has been accused of multiple sexual misconduct allegations.

When asked, “is an accused child molester better than a Democrat?” Trump said, “[Moore] denies it.”

“If you look at what is really going on, and you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours, he totally denies it,” the president continued. “He says it didn’t happen. And, you know, you have to listen to him also. You’re talking about, he said 40 years ago this did not happen.”
