George H. W. Bush now longest living president in US history

George H. W. Bush reached a major milestone on Saturday.

He is “now the longest-living president in U.S. history at the age of 93 years and 166 days,” reports The Hill.

Gabe Fleisher, the writer of the political newsletter ‘Wake Up To Politics,’ tweeted where other presidents stand in this category.

Right behind is Gerald Ford, who lived for 93 years and 165 days.

And others towards the top to date include Ronald Reagan (93 years, 120 days), Jimmy Carter (93 years, 55 days), John Adams (90 years, 247 days), and Herbert Hoover (90 years, 71 days).

Interestingly, one tweeter pointed out, all but one on that list were one-term presidents.

On the other end, John F. Kennedy (46 years, 177 days) and James A. Garfield (49 years, 304 days) were assassinated in their 40s, and cholera claimed the life of James E. Polk at the age of 53 years and 225 days.
