Ohio woman shot while preparing Thanksgiving meal

An Ohio woman was killed in a drive-by shooting on Thanksgiving while she prepared a holiday meal alongside friends and family.

Adrian Scott was fatally shot just before 1 p.m. at a home on the Northeast side of Columbus, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

The 34-year-old was standing at the kitchen table, getting the macaroni and cheese ready when multiple shots were fired at the house on Hiddenspring Drive.

“I went straight to the floor,” one of the dinner guests said. “We all did.”

He declined to give his name for fear of retribution, but told the newspaper five people were inside when the deadly incident occurred.

Scott, who did not live at the residence where the shooting occurred, was later pronounced dead at the Ohio Health Grant Medical Center.

“It’s just a bad day for the family on any day,” Sgt. Stan Latta said “The only thing I would think is every Thanksgiving they’ll probably think about this.”

Authorities have not shared a description of the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting, nor have they disclosed a suspect or possible motive.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Columbus police homicide unit or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.
