Poll: Biden would beat Trump in 2020, but so would any 'generic Democrat'

If Joe Biden were to run for president in 2020, he’s projected to beat President Trump, according to a new Politico/Morning Consult poll.

The numbers are low for Trump, with only 35 percent of those polled saying they’d cast their ballots for his re-election.

That’s compared to the 46 percent who said they would vote for Biden instead, giving the former vice president an 11-point margin.

Earlier this week Biden said he is "not closing the door" on running for president in 2020.

While on "Megyn Kelly TODAY," Biden was asked how he would win if the blue-collar rust belters he needs already support Donald Trump.

In response, he said, "They love me more."

If he runs, it will be his third appearance in a presidential campaign.

For those who wouldn’t want to see Trump serve another term, there is little reason to worry -- even if Biden doesn’t run.

48 percent of voters said they would vote for a "generic Democrat" over Trump, while 34 percent said they would vote for Trump.
