Paul Ryan says sex allegations against Roy Moore are 'credible'

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday joined the chorus of lawmakers calling on embattled GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore to end his run for office over accusations he pursued sexual and romantic relationships with teenage girls.

Ryan said the Alabama jurist should step aside because the “allegations are credible.”

Multiple women have come forward to say Moore pursued relationships with them when he was in his 30s and they were teens.

GOP and Democratic pols alike piled on Moore as a new poll showed his Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, with a lead in the race for the first time over the weekend.

The Washington Post reported last week that Moore had a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was in his 30s, and pursued romantic relationships with other teenagers. Moore has denied the accounts.

Meanwhile, Alabama secretary of state John Merrill said Tuesday that he is still supporting Moore, saying that his accusers could be “making it up.”
