The week was marred by tragedy after a gunman opened fire on the congregation at Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church in Texas on Sunday. Devin Kelley killed 26 people, including many children, in a shooting rampage that authorities say stemmed from a domestic dispute. Pastor Frank Pomeroy, whose 14-year-old daughter was killed in the assault, has expressed his desire to demolish the church and plant a memorial garden in its place.

Other major headlines of the week included President Donald Trump's trip to Asia, Democrats winning the governor's races in Virginia and New Jersey and a slew of new sexual assault and misconduct allegations against figures including, comedian Louis C.K. and Republican Alabama Senate nominee Roy Moore.
