Bill Clinton says Trump's 'fake news' rhetoric is 'dictators club' tactics

On the anniversary of President Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton, Former President Bill Clinton sat with Conan O’Brien where he discussed how the current President’s rhetoric mirrors the values of dictators.

"They want to abolish the line between fact and fiction and between truth and lie. Because they figure if you don’t know what’s true and you don’t think you could ever know that pretty soon everybody will accept the fact that democracy is no longer possible," Clinton said.

Clinton also spoke about how the spread of misinformation, efforts to disenfranchise the "elderly and poor," along with the outcry against immigration helped President Trump win in last year’s election.

He also added that representatives who oppose immigration reform actually fear it will hurt their political agendas.

The Former president concluded that in addition to voting in the midterm elections, we need to, "just go up to people who are mad at us and say let’s get over it."
