Rescued injured dog turns out to be a wild coyote

Dogs certainly tug at the heartstrings of many a human, and, on Saturday, some called to report that there was one in distress in Coconut Grove, Florida.

Miami-Dade Animal Services sent its rescue team to the area, a bustling center of shopping and dining, but, upon arriving, personnel found that the incident was not exactly as described.

The injured dog was actually a coyote, reports WSVN.

That didn’t change the team’s mission, and, after containing the wild animal, they took it to South Florida Wildlife Center to be examined and treated.

The coyote is said to be on the mend and will be released once it’s regained full health, notes the Daily Courier.

Though no one was injured and the mistaken identity worked out well for the coyote, Miami-Dade Animal Services did write in a Facebook post, “Residents of the area are advised to use caution when encountering wildlife and to ensure children and small pets are closely supervised.”
