Some worried about Andrew Luck's career after Colts QB shut down for season

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts placed quarterback Andrew Luck on the Injured Reserve list – effectively ending his season before it even began. The franchise also made sure to note that Luck’s shoulder injury – which he had surgery for back in January – is not being considered career threatening.

Some aren’t convinced. Cian Fahey, ESPN’s quarterback guru, stated the obvious after hearing the news. While the Colts are telling us not to be concerned for Luck’s career, it’s kind of impossible not to be at this point.

How did we get here?

Back in January, Colts owner Jim Irsay informed the world that Luck had had outpatient surgery to fix a shoulder injury that had “lingered” since 2015. Irsay, at the time, said Luck would be ready for the 2017 season.

Obviously, he wasn’t ready for camp. Then, he wasn’t ready for opening day. Now, midway through the season, he won’t wind up playing at all.

Luck has played six seasons thus far, and hopefully, that’s just the start of a long, healthy career. But if you’re starting to feel a bit skeptical about his long-term prospects, you clearly aren’t alone.
