Nanny arrested after baby wipe found shoved down baby's throat

An NYPD detective said he arrested a nanny after a baby wipe was shoved down the throat of a 2-month-old boy when it became clear she was the only one who could have done it.

Detective Christopher Shaw said doctors at Bellevue Hospital told him the rolled-up wipe had to be surgically removed from little Maxwell’s throat. A doctor also told him it was not possible the boy’s toddler sister — the only other person with the baby all day besides their nanny, Marianne Benjamin-Williams, was to blame.

“She informed me the object that was lodged in his throat was deliberately placed,” Shaw testified at a pretrial hearing Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Maxwell’s 14-month-old sister “did not have the manual dexterity to place a wipe in the manner it was placed in his throat,” the doctor told cops.

Benjamin-Williams, 45, is charged with attempted murder and related counts in the May 18 ordeal at the family’s Waterside Plaza home in Kips Bay.

The nanny denies the charges.
