Japanese man arrested after body parts found in cooler under cat litter

Multiple dismembered bodies were found in the home of a Japanese man in his apartment near Tokyo.

Twenty-seven year old suspect, Takahiro Shiraishi, admitted to mutilating the bodies and hiding them in coolers, according to CBS.

Police had been searching for a 23-year-old woman who had gone missing after she'd contacted Shiraishi via social media seeking someone for a suicide pact.

Reuters reports that although police declined to comment on the body count, local media says that there were at least nine bodies discovered.

The missing woman is believed to be among the dismembered bodies.

Although the man had put the body parts in coolers and covered them with cat litter, neighbors said they had noticed a foul smell around the apartment.
