Cops say boy, 10, who took them on a dangerous 100mph car chase was an 'amazing driver'

Police cruiser dashcam video caught a high-speed chase led by a 10-year-old boy this week.

And cops say no one was injured thanks to their actions--and the boy's shockingly good driving skills.

The pursuit began after several 911 calls were made by fellow motorists, as well as the boy's mom.

"My 10-year-old stole his dad’s car, and he’s running from me," the mother told a dispatcher as she pursued the boy in her own car.

According to Cleveland 19, cops say the boy was driving in excess of 90mph.

"I don't if it's like a kid that's swerving in and out of traffic, almost ran a couple cars off the road," another 911 caller told the dispatcher.

Fearful for the safety of other motorists, the Ohio State Highway Patrol laid out spike strips, which they say slowed the boy down significantly.

OSHP then decided to hit the back of the car as cruisers blocked him from the front. Thankfully, the maneuver worked and the chase came to a halt.

When it was all over, the chase had stretched 50 miles from where it started in Cleveland.

"When we were able to get him out of the car he was very agitated. He kicked one of the troopers in the shin, he then spit in the face of the same trooper," Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Richard Reeder said.

The boy was taken to a hospital as a precaution and police say charges weren't filed.

Above all, authorities were thankful there were no injuries.

"You know, at that speed, you can kill somebody really easy," Reeder said. "I have a 10-year-old myself and to look at how well this person drove is just amazing and everyone's so lucky that there was nothing tragic that happened."
