Expert warns North Korea preemptive strike could lead to millions of deaths

There’s been a lot of talk in and around Washington about a preemptive military strike against North Korea.

President Trump has repeatedly threatened a military option against the rogue nation.

"If we take that option, it will be devastating," Trump has said. "I can tell you that -- devastating for North Korea. That's called the military option."

But according to an American expert on North Korea, a strike of that nature wouldn’t remove all of the country’s nuclear capabilities.

Michael Green, who worked under the Bush 43 administration said, "It would risk a wider war that would inflame South Korea and Japan and potentially cause millions of casualties."

Talk of that military option comes as tensions between the White House and Pyongyang have risen in the past couple months -- with Kim Jong Un calling President Trump a war monger and Trump nicknaming the dictator Little Rocket Man.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Navy has announced that it is sending a third aircraft carrier to the Pacific ahead of Trump's Asia tour.
