Houston Astros advance to World Series after defeating Yankees 4-0 in ALCS Game 7

The Houston Astros are going to the World Series.

The Astros defeated the New York Yankees 4-0 in Houston in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, securing their spot opposite the Los Angeles Dodgers in this year's Fall Classic.

Heading into Game 7, the Yankees had yet to lose an elimination game and the Astros were undefeated at home this postseason. Eventually, something had to give.

The game remained scoreless until Houston's Evan Gattis hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth off of Yankees starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia -- and the Astros never looked back.

The Astros padded their lead with another solo shot by American League MVP favorite Jose Altuve in the bottom of the fifth. It was his fifth home run of the postseason and his second home run in his last three at bats.

Houston's lead grew to 4-0 later in the inning on a two-run double by former Yankees catcher Brian McCann. That was where the scoring would stop, but it was more than enough to remain undefeated at home and send the Yankees packing.

The Astros will now head to Los Angeles to face off against the National League champion Dodgers in the World Series, which begins on Tuesday, October 24. It will be Houston's second-ever appearance in the Series.
