Ex-Taliban hostage rushed to hospital days after rescue

An American mother of three rescued from the Taliban last week was rushed to a Canadian hospital where she remains as of Tuesday night.

The former Canadian hostage Joshua Boyle said his wife, Caitlan Coleman, was hospitalized on Monday. He did not explain why or where she was taken in an email to the Associated Press.

"My wife has been through hell, and she has to be my first priority right now," Boyle wrote.

The couple was abducted while backpacking in Afghanistan and rescued after five harrowing years with the Taliban-linked Haqqani network. Their three children, ages 4, 2, and 6 months, were born in captivity.

A fourth child was killed by the terrorist group. The family landed in Toronto on Friday.
