Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long will be playing his entire 2017 season for free.

Earlier in the season, the 32-year-old veteran player had already pledged to donate the checks from his first six games of the season to fund scholarships for students in his hometown, Charlottesville, Va., where he also played college football.

Now, Long announced Wednesday morning that he will donate his final 10 game checks to charitable organizations near Boston, Philadelphia and St. Louis -- the three cities in which Long has played for in his 10-year NFL career.

This means Long, who had a base salary of $1 million for the season, will be putting all of that money towards educational initiatives through the Chris Long Foundation.

"I'm playing the entire 2017 NFL season without collecting income because I believe that education is the best gateway to a better tomorrow for EVERYONE in America," Long wrote in a statement on PledgeIt.org.

The four organizations that will benefit from the NFL player's final 10 game checks are Summer Search Boston, Summer Search Philadelphia, College Bound and St. Louis' Little Bit Foundation.
