Trump: ‘I hope…Crooked Hillary Clinton’ runs in 2020

To many, the 2020 presidential election seems a way off in the distance, but in political sectors it’s often discussed like it’s just around the corner.

Perhaps in that spirit, President Trump took to Twitter on Monday morning to comment on what may or may not happen in that race.

“I was recently asked if Crooked Hillary Clinton is going to run in 2020? My answer was, ‘I hope so!’” the president tweeted.

Trump’s actual motivation for the tweet is unknown, but it’s possible the comment was prompted by recent critical remarks made by Clinton.

In an interview that aired on CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS Sunday, though taped days in advance, Clinton criticized Trump for his threats to end the nation’s nuclear deal with Iran and described his actions, “very dangerous."

She also weighed in on Trump’s handling of North Korea, noting, it has given leader Kim Jong-un, “more legitimacy than he deserves to have, given how his people are being treated. And I think that’s a very shortsighted and dangerous route to take.”

While speaking at an event in London that same day, Clinton discussed the possibility of Trump launching a nuclear attack.

“I’m worried about that now," Clinton said. "I had big differences with so many of the other people who have been president during my lifetime, but I never worried about that.”
