Joe Biden is making moves -- but are they a sign of what's to come in 2020?

Since leaving the White House, former Vice President Joe Biden has remained politically active, and, in recent times, been seen campaigning hard, though not for himself.

CNN reports that he has been quite busy, "recruiting friends into tough-to-win Southern races, campaigning with Democrats in Virginia and New Jersey and wading into superior court races in Pennsylvania."

The news outlet notes that at a recent South Carolina event, Biden said, "Once again, we are living through a battle for the soul of the nation — a battle I thought was done and won."

A close friend of the former vice president told CNN that the current level of activity isn’t unusual for the veteran politician.

Nonetheless, there has been a great deal of discussion about Biden’s future plans and if they include a 2020 presidential run.

Just weeks ago, the Wall Street Journal pointed out, “Biden’s schedule over the last month looks a lot like that of a presidential candidate.”

“Since the beginning of September, Mr. Biden has held events with nearly every Democratic constituency that would be critical to any White House bid—from women and African-American voters to environmentalists, Latinos and union workers," the publication noted.

While it is unknown if he will enter the pool for the Democratic nomination, recent polling suggests that he does have a solid chance of beating President Trump in the 2020 election.

Public Policy Polling survey results released in late August show Biden leading by double digits in that theoretical matchup.
