Utah teen, her lover and another man accused of killing her dad

A 15-year-old Utah girl and two men, including her lover, are accused of killing her father as he slept.

Investigators believe Aaron Friar's daughter Ellen and the two other suspects then stole his vehicle, using it to haul Friar's body to a dirt embankment in Medford.

The body of Aaron Friar, who was 50, was found Monday afternoon. An autopsy is pending.

"We are confident that it occurred early Monday morning," Lt. Justin Ivens of the Medford Police Department told the Mail Tribune. "We can’t say which weapons were used right now — but it could be several."

Russell Jones, 22, Gavin MacFarlane, 19, and Ellen Friar have been charged with murder, robbery and tampering with evidence. MacFarlane, who cops say had a sexual relationship with Ellen Friar, is also charged with third-degree rape.

Detectives believe that the relationship between Ellen Friar and MacFarlane caused tension between father and daughter.

"Her parents were OK with their relationship, but what I'm thinking is that they found out that he was too old to where it was statutory, so they got into a dispute," friend Christopher Snow told KTVL.

The two male suspects were booked into the Jackson County Jail, and Ellen Friar was being held at a juvenile detention facility.

"We feel that this is sort of a planned attack," Lt. Ivens told KDRV. "We believe that this was something that has kind of been in the works and that all three of them conspired for this to happen."

Jones was convicted of third-degree sexual abuse three years ago, according to court records obtained by the Mail Tribune.
