Report: Sean Spicer hires criminal defense attorney in Russia probe

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has reportedly hired a lawyer as the investigation into Russia heats up.

According to the Daily Beast, Spicer has hired criminal defense attorney Chris Mead.

This comes days after it was reported by Axios that Spicer kept detailed notes during the presidential campaign and while at the White House.

Those notes have apparently drawn the attention of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.

Mueller will likely interview Spicer in the coming weeks, according the Washington Post.

In July, Spicer resigned as White House Press Secretary over the hiring of Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director.
