Melania Trump to condemn bullying at UN luncheon: 'We need to step up'

First lady Melania Trump is reportedly expected to address first spouses on Wednesday, speaking as an advocate of global child-focused initiatives.

According to POLITICO, the Slovenia native will denounce bullying in her speech, in addition to addressing other global issues that affect global child populations.

"No child should ever feel hungry, stalked, frightened, terrorized, bullied, isolated or afraid, with nowhere to turn," the first lady will reportedly say. "We need to step up, come together, and ensure that our children's future is bright."

Melania Trump's speech will be delivered at a luncheon attended by first spouses of global world leaders.

From the national opioid epidemic to the violence of Charlottesville, Melania Trump has spoken out on a number of issues since her husband became president -- but children have been a central focus of her visits and public appearances on multiple occasions.

From reading with children at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll to visiting with students at multiple schools, Melania Trump appears set on addressing the needs of children from varying backgrounds. Even while abroad during her lengthy foreign trip earlier this year with President Trump, she stopped by both Queen Fabiola University Hospital in Brussels and Bambino Gesu in Rome where she snapped photos and visited with sick children. She also separately stopped by to greet children at Necker Hospital in Paris when the first couple visited France to celebrate Bastille Day.
