Mexico earthquake kills at least 42 in Morelos state, 5 in Mexico state

MEXICO CITY, Sept 19 (Reuters) - At least 42 people were killed in Morelos state after a powerful earthquake struck central Mexico on Tuesday, Governor Graco Ramizez said, bringing the death toll from the disaster to 49.

State of Mexico Governor Alfredo Del Mazo said the death toll in his state had risen to at least five people, from initial reports of two deaths. Two more deaths were reported in the state of Puebla.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said 27 buildings had collapsed in the capital, Mexico City.
