Jean-Claude Van Damme’s son's roommate details knifepoint attack
Jean-Claude Van Damme's son, Nick Van Varenberg, claimed he was the wrong person police were looking for in an incident where he allegedly held his roommate at knifepoint.
Van Varenberg's roommate is seen on video obtained by TMZ telling police officers in his building's lobby that the son of the famous actor pulled a knife on him and police then head upstairs to arrest Van Varenberg for the attack.
Van Varenberg, 21, tells officers that a roommate named A.J. is his best friend and A.J. and another roommate were fighting — he was just the bystander.

He also asserts that officers don't have a warrant to search his room for any evidence.
"Jesus Christ can I get up? Do you guys have a warrant to search my room? You guys don't have a warrant then?" he questions.
"A.J.'s the roommate that caused all this ... Am I detained?"
When officers reply that he's under arrest, Van Varenberg says, "What am I under arrest for?" the video obtained by TMZ reveals, and police tell him it's for the fight with his roommate.
"No that's A.J ... I am Nick Van Varenberg you guys can look this up on the cameras I am not the one who fought with my roommate," he says.
Police clarify that they are not talking about a previous incident, but the one from that Sunday on Sept. 10.
It sounds like his roommate says Van Varenberg is "sick" in the video and explains he's stopped answering his texts.
Police told TMZ that they later found a knife and marijuana in the apartment.
Van Varenberg was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tempe, Ariz., police did not immediately return a Daily News request for comment.
