Top senator is concerned over Trump’s golfing buddies and wants golf records

A top democratic lawmaker wants to investigate President Trump’s favorite pastime -- golfing. But it’s not the president’s backswing Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon is interested in; it’s who he’s playing with.

Wyden’s request for names stems from a USA Today report which discovered lobbyists and executives with federal contracts golf at Trump’s clubs.

According to the paper, of the 50 executives and 21 lobbyists and trade group officials belonging to his Florida, New Jersey, and Virginia club, two thirds of them played a round of golf while Trump was there.

That’s raising concern for Wyden. The ranking democrat on the Senate Finance Committee sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security’s acting secretary, Elaine Duke. Wyden wrote the USA Today report, "raised the possibility that members of the president's private clubs could receive special access to the president not available to private citizens."

Wyden has asked the administration to respond by October 13th with a log of all visitors and guests to Trump’s resorts and golf clubs while he’s there. The White House has yet to respond.
