Anthony Bourdain blasted for quip about poisoning Trump

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is facing backlash after joking that he would like to serve President Trump a poisonous plant.

TMZ posted a video of CNN’s 'Parts Unknown' host at the airport last week where one of its reporters asked Bourdain, “If Trump and Kim Jong-un were going to have a bit of a summit to try and mend relations and they wanted you to cater, what would you serve?” “Hemlock,” Bourdain promptly responded.

According to the Mother Nature Network, hemlock is “one of the most famous poisonous plants in history — it’s the flora responsible for killing Socrates.”

The TV personality has since been blasted by some on social media, with one person writing, “BOYCOTT CHEF ANTHONY BOURDAIN. He said he’d poison Trump’s food if he catered for the President. WORDS SHOULD HAVE CONSEQUENCES.”

Meanwhile, someone else wrote, “Anthony Bourdain must be immediately fired from @CNN for threatening to poison President Trump.” He later backtracked, telling Fox News he meant to say “kale.” Bourdain has spoken out against the president before; last year, he told the Wrap that, despite having a meal with former President Obama on his show, he rejected the possibility of dining with Trump whom he called “loathsome.”
