Jemele Hill regrets hurting ESPN with tweet about Trump

Jemele Hill has released a statement on her political tweet heard ‘round the world.

And she isn’t apologizing for words. Rather, Hill says she regrets the spot it put her employer in.

"My comments on Twitter expressed my personal beliefs,” she wrote on Twitter late Wednesday. "My regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in an unfair light.

“My respect for the company and my colleagues remains unconditional.”

ESPN said they ’addressed’ the matter with Hill Tuesday after she tweeted that Trump is “a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.”

“The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the President do not represent the position of ESPN,” the network said.

That has been ESPN’s only comments on the matter and the network did reprimand her.

Hill co-hosted Sportscenter at 6 p.m., like she usually does, with Michael Smith on Wednesday evening.
