Man allegedly loses track of toddler as he plays fantasy football

Phone down, please.

A Florida man was arrested for child abuse after he allegedly failed to keep tabs on a 2-year-old during a fantasy draft, according to ABC Action News.

Jesus Martinez, 27, of Holiday, Fla., was allegedly selecting his fantasy roster on his phone when the 2-year-old he was caring for went missing.

A 6-year-old in the home informed him that the toddler had wandered out of the home.

When she was found, the 2-year-old was more than 1,000 feet from the residence and wore only a dirty diaper, according to Pasco County deputies.

The citizen who found the young girl changed her diaper and gave her clean clothes.

Halleigh Wears, 14, told ABC Action News that her family stopped to help the young girl. Another woman, reportedly in a red truck, arrived as well — and gave the family the diaper and clothes.

Steve Patton, who was responsible for calling 911, said there was no reason a toddler should be alone like that.

People aware of the situation posted about the child’s whereabouts on social media.

The caregiver was located one hour after the child was found.

The 2-year-old was not harmed. It is unclear what the child's relationship was to Martinez.

Martinez was arrested for child neglect and taken to the Land O’ Lakes jail, police say.
