WATCH: Footage of Seahawks' Michael Bennett's arrest obtained by TMZ
The arrest of Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett by Las Vegas police was caught on camera and TMZ published footage of the arrest on Wednesday.
Bennett published a letter to Twitter on Wednesday morning, detailing a heated encounter he experienced with police on August 26 after the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight.
In the video obtained by TMZ, Bennett is lying face down on a sidewalk as an officer handcuffs him and another cop positions himself on a balcony.
"I wasn't doing nothing man!" Bennett can be heard yelling. "I was here with my friends! They told us to get out, everybody ran!"
The footage does not show the initial confrontation between Bennett and police.
Although not heard on this video, Bennett claimed in his letter, "As I laid on the ground, complying with his commands to not move, he placed his gun near my head and warned me that if I moved he would 'blow my f---ing head off.'"
The NFL star said he was headed back to his hotel when he heard what sounded like gunshots. He and many of the people in the area at the time began running -- that's when he says "Las Vegas police officers singled me out and pointed their guns at me for doing nothing more than simply being a black man int he wrong place at the wrong time."
Bennett has hired civil rights attorney John Burris and is exploring all legal options including filing a civil rights lawsuit.
