Michigan woman pulls gun on back-to-school shoppers at Walmart

A Michigan mother pulled a gun on two women who argued with her daughter over the last notebook on a shelf at Walmart.

The mother, 51, pulled out her weapon and threatened the pair of shoppers after they grabbed her daughter’s hair, police said.

The three women squabbled over the rightful ownership of a single notebook, police said, WCRZ reported.

“It was in the back to school section, over the purchase of a notebook,” Det. Sgt. Scott Baetens said.

The pair of women involved are 32 and 46-years-old, police said. The gun carrier’s daughter is 20.

Baetens described how the vicious fight unfolded.

“One girl was going to buy a notebook — there was one left — some pushing resulted, they began to argue who was the rightful purchaser of the notebook,” he said.

The two women reportedly pulled the younger woman’s hair, shoving her mother out of the way.

“She pulls out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them,” Baetens said.

He described the incident as a “senseless act of violence all the way around.”

Police are working with prosecutors to determine if the mother’s pulling of her weapon constituted self-defense, and who it was for.

Police say gun was loaded but no round was in the chamber.

All four women face potential charges.

Baetens didn’t know what kind of notebook the group argued over. He also doesn’t know who walked away with the prized object.

“I am unsure which group actually got the notebook.”
