Former VP Joe Biden slams Trump, calls on Americans to speak out

Former Vice President Joe Biden is going after President Trump yet again over his response to the violence in Charlottesville.

Biden published an article in the Atlantic Sunday where he said the President has emboldened white supremacists.

He wrote, "Today we have an American president who has publicly proclaimed a moral equivalency between neo-Nazis and Klansmen and those who would oppose their venom and hate."

His comments came after Trump at a contentious press conference last week attempted to pass part of the blame for the violence to a group he called the "alt-left."

Trump said, "I think there was blame on both sides. What about the alt-left that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt?"

Both the former VP and former President Obama have kept a relatively low profile since leaving the White House.

Biden wrote, "This is a moment for this nation to declare what the president can't with any clarity, consistency, or conviction: There is no place for these hate groups in America."
