Father and daughter kicked off Frontier Airlines flight over 'disrespectful remarks'

Updated

A father and daughter were kicked off a Frontier Airlines flight on Wednesday after they allegedly made "disrespectful remarks" about the carrier and its stewardesses.

Eric Miller, 70, and his daughter, Whitney Miller, 25, had just boarded their Frontier Airlines flight from Orlando, Florida, to St. Louis, Missouri, after an eight-hour delay when they began discussing how "miserable" their experience with the carrier had been so far.

Apparently, crew members on the flight overheard the father and daughter's private conversation and felt "threatened" by their remarks.

Shortly after the flight had finished boarding, flight attendants confronted the pair about their comments in what Mr. Miller referred to as an "aggressive" fashion.

"They would lean over the back of the chair in front of us, get their face right up to here, and they would simply ask, 'Do we have a problem?'" he told WKMG-TV.

"It was, 'No, do you have a problem? Do you want to be removed from the aircraft?' We responded, 'No,'" added Whitney Miller. "We didn't know what was going on, what's happening. Please tell us what's happening."

Amid their confusion, the pair was asked to leave the plane. That's when Jocelyn Praia Gonzalez, a passenger seated behind the Millers, began recording a video of the interaction.

Gonzalez shared a video of the encounter on Facebook with the caption, "Frontier is on my dislike list. These poor people did not deserve this at all!"

"A stewardess felt threatened after "overhearing" a conversation between this daughter and father just trying to get back after we all sat for a 9 hour delay!" she continued. "You hear his reaction? Still classy after all the attacks Frontier gave them both. Never again!"

In Gonzalez's video, a male flight attendant can be heard telling the Millers that they would be removed from the plane because they had "threatened" crew members, to which another attendant adds that the airline could call the police on them.

"You're going to call the police?" Mr. Miller asks.

"What did we do wrong?" Whitney Miller adds. "Why are we getting kicked off this airplane?"

Eventually, an exasperated Mr. Miller rises from his seat and exclaims to the entire plane, "This is the most loathsome experience I can actually say I've indulged in 70 years of flying on an airplane. This is absolutely incredible. We have a conversation, you're threatened and we're going to have to leave after spending 12 hours in this airport waiting for this plane to leave. This is loathsome."

In response to the incident, Frontier Airlines defended its actions, telling WKMG-TV that the passengers were heard calling the flight staff profanities.

"Our flight attendants are customer service and safety professionals who are trained to recognize situations that may impact comfort and safety of passengers and crew on board our aircraft," a representative from the carrier told the station. "The behaviors and comments exhibited by these passengers prior to departure were inappropriate; and as a result they were asked to leave our aircraft. Safety and security of our passengers and crew is our number one priority."
