Several notable news stories dominated the headlines over the past week.

In several regions around the world, attempts were made to control wildfires as the 2017 fire season gets off to a worse-than-average start.

Tensions continued to rise between the United States and North Korea, as President Donald Trump promised to meet the Asian nation with "fire and fury" should it continue to threaten the U.S.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a much more relaxing few days, judging from the photos released of his lake vacation.
