Devonta Freeman signs contract extension, becomes league's highest-paid running back
The NFL has a new highest-paid running back.
Devonta Freeman and the Atlanta Falcons reportedly agreed on a five-year extension for the young star. The contract amounts to $41.25 million over the next half-decade.
Michael Silver of NFL Network confirmed the details on Twitter Wednesday morning:
Devonta Freeman and the Falcons have agreed to a five-year contract extension that makes him the NFL's highest-paid running back @nflnetwork

In his own official statement, Freeman sang Atlanta's praises, saying, "This is where I've always wanted to be."
Freeman has spent three seasons with the Falcons, making the Pro Bowl twice and scoring a touchdown in the team's Super Bowl LI loss to the New England Patriots.
