Video shows Ohio mom shooting heroin in front of young son

WARNING: The following story contains graphic footage of drug use

Police released surveillance footage taken last week showing an Ohio mother shooting up heroin in an alley in front of her son.

Lauren Story was arrested Thursday after cops said the 29-year-old mom was seen along with a male friend in the video injecting heroin in broad daylight, Fox 19 reported. Her four-year-old son sat next to them, playing with a phone.

Story is facing charges of child endangerment and possessing drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. She denied all of the charges.

John Donaldson, a member of the local neighborhood watch, told the station he filmed the now-viral video on Wednesday afternoon.

"I saw the little boy sitting there against the wall really behaving himself while the two were preparing to shoot up," Donaldson said.

"I think the people [who live here] are solid people. The people that are the problem are the people that come down here and sell their dope and the people that come down here and buy their dope."

Donaldson turned the footage over to police shortly after. Police arrested Story on Thursday after spotting her and her son outside in downtown Cincinnati.

Police also arrested the unidentified male in the video and placed Story's son with child protective services.

"People have sympathy for people who use heroin but that sympathy ends when you're doing it in front of your children," prosecutor Dave Wood said at the arraignment Friday, according to WLWT-TV.

Story is being held on a $22,000 bond.

The case will go to a grand jury for possible indictment on Aug. 14.
