PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth among odds favorites

Jordan Spieth could potentially replace Tiger Woods as the youngest golfer to complete a career grand slam at the PGA Championship this week, but oddsmakers are predicting another player could emerge as the tournament winner.

PGA play will take place at Quail Hollow this Thursday through Sunday in what is shaping up to an epic showdown between Spieth and Rory McIlroy, who is currently the favorite to take the Charlotte, North Carolina event title.

The final major of the year, once billed "Glory's Last Shot," comes a few weeks after the British Open -- a quick turn around as players set pace for their last big tee of 2017.

Twenty-four-year-old Spieth's shot at the Slam if he wins the Wanamaker trophy puts the Texan directly behind McIlroy at +850, but McIroy's firm standing as dominant on the Quail Hollow course puts him in the lead with oddsmakers at +700 as of Monday, August 7.

Sergio Garcia took the green jacket at this year's Masters, but his odds are low when ranked against this field. Odds for "El Nino" are currently ranked at 40-1.
