First lady Melania Trump reportedly helping her husband pick the next ambassador to Slovenia

First lady Melania Trump is reportedly helping her husband, President Donald Trump, pick the next ambassador to her homeland of Slovenia.

According to a report in New York Magazine, the president is set to name California businesswoman Kelly Roberts to the post, and Melania Trump was personally involved in the selection process.

Roberts is a top Republican donor and hotel owner who's given more than $1.2 million to the GOP over the past year.

The first lady reportedly reviewed several dossiers of potential ambassadors but settled on Roberts.

She reportedly said Slovenia would benefit by having a business woman representing the U.S. in her home country.

The president hasn't formally named a nominee for the job.

Roberts also gave $50,000 to Trump's super PAC a month before the election.
