Report: Joe Biden called McCain with tearful plea to save Obamacare

Did Joe Biden convince John McCain to save Obamacare?

That's the conclusion some are drawing after a report from the Washington Post stated Senator McCain was called by former Vice President Biden, who made an emotional plea to vote against the "skinny" repeal of Obamacare.

Biden purportedly reflected on the death of his son Beau Biden, who died of the same brain cancer McCain has been diagnosed with.

Former Senator Joe Lieberman also reportedly called McCain ahead of the vote.

With the drama of a thumbs down gesture, McCain effectively killed the republicans' seven-year efforts to repeal and/or replace Obamacare, at least for now.

With his hands folded, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell later expressed his frustrations, saying "...yes this is a disappointment. A disappointment indeed."

McCain is expected to begin his cancer treatment Monday.
