Boyfriend of TV reporter shot and killed on live TV is running for office
The boyfriend of a Virginia TV reporter who was shot and killed on live TV is now running for office.
Chris Hurst is a former local news anchor in Virginia, and now he's running as a Democrat for a seat in the commonwealth's House of Delegates.
His girlfriend, Alison Parker and her videographer Adam Ward were both shot and killed during a live broadcast in August of 2015.

The shooter, a former co-worker, later shot and killed himself.
Hurst clinched the Democratic nomination last week and he'll face off against Republican incumbent Joseph Yost.

Hurst says if he's elected, he'll focus on gun control and improving workplace safety.
He told WUSA9, quote, "I'm running for office for the people of Southeast Virginia who were there for me when I needed it."
