Legal expert: Trump Jr. meeting with Russian lawyer could land him in jail

A meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer is getting a lot of scrutiny, and one legal analyst says, the meeting could even land Trump, Jr. in jail.

"It is a crime to solicit or accept anything of value from a foreign national in a campaign."

That's justice and security analyst Matthew Miller speaking of a 2016 meeting where Donald Trump, Jr. said that Natalia Veselnitskaya - approached him saying she had insider details on Hillary Clinton.

Details that could potentially damage her reputation and campaign.

But, when they met she had no "meaningful information" and instead pivoted the conversation to talk about a prohibition that the Russian government placed on the adoption of Russian children as retaliation for sanctions imposed by Congress in 2012.

Monday - Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said they didn't know about the meeting and "cannot keep track of every Russian lawyer and their meetings domestically or abroad."

A lot of attention on this meeting, in the wake of alleged findings that Russia hacked the 2016 presidential election and President Donald Trump's recent meeting with Putin.

Trump's son added a bit of sarcasm to the mix, tweeting, "Obviously I'm the first person on a campaign to ever take a meeting to hear info about an opponent...went nowhere, but had to listen."
