Turkey was sweltering in a weekend heatwave that caused record temperatures in much of the country and triggered forest fires in the Aegean region. The highlight of this past week in the United States was the commemoration of Independence Day on Tuesday, with fireworks and celebrations occurring nationwide.
The G-20 summit in Germany also began this week as world leaders convened to discuss important topics -- and where President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met for the first time.
