Photo of Mike Pence touching object at NASA goes viral

Updated

A photo of Mike Pence touching an object marked with a clear "do not touch" sign on it went viral on Thursday.

Yesterday, the vice president went to NASA's Kennedy Space Center, where he spoke about President Donald Trump's plans to improve the agency.

He toured campus facilities and stopped in the Orion clean room, where pieces of NASA's capsule are being assembled.

According to The Verge, the off-limits object he touched was likely a covering for the Orion capsule, which NASA is building to take humans into deep space.

Touching it probably won't set back future missions, but Twitter had a lot to say about it.

Pence responded to criticism, saying Marco Rubio dared him to do it.
